Dear Families,

Happy new year! The first day of our Saturday live online spring classes will start on February 6th and will resume through June 12th. Our standard day of classes will promptly begin at 9:00 AM and end at 2:35 PM.

In preparation for the course, please note the following:

1. Spring Semester Calendar

  PDF Calendar

2. Google Classroom

You will be receiving an email with the Google Classroom codes for your Spring classes. You must enroll into these Google Classrooms before attempting to access your Student Portal. Please make sure to use the student’s personal Google account and not the Google account provided by your school.

3 Student Portal

The email you will be receiving will also contain a link to your child’s Student Portal page. The portal page will contain quick access to your class materials and the Zoom rooms to meet with your teachers.

4. Pre-Test & Homework

To keep track of our students’ progress, online pre-tests are administered at the beginning of the day. Students will need to join the pre-test Zoom meeting and take the exam with the online proctor. Also, weekly homework assignments will be distributed through Google Classroom. Students must complete homework without assistance, but we ask that you keep track of their scores.

5. Conferences

We understand our students’ academic growth is a collaborative effort between teachers, counselors, and parents. For that reason, counselors will be readily available throughout the semester to keep you up to date on your child’s progress. We encourage you to schedule a conference at any time within business hours should you have any concerns.

6. Absence Policy

We do not offer any make-up classes. All distributed class material will be provided through Google Classroom in lieu of the absence. In all cases, we ask that families call to inform our staff of absences.

7. Student Code of Conduct

Our mission at Kent is to provide an enriching and positive learning environment. Therefore, we strictly enforce a controlled environment. We ask your cooperation in enforcing a strict behavioral policy.

If you have any questions or concerns before the semester starts, call us at 718.423.5757 to speak to a counselor. We look forward to working with you and your children in the upcoming semester!
