About Us
Kent Prep is a New York–based academic consulting and test preparation firm serving ambitious students in NYC and around the world. Our aim is to prepare students for admission to top-tier universities by pairing rigorous score improvement with Kent’s distinctive C.A.P. approach—Character, Aptitude, and Passion—so each student develops not only stronger results, but also the profile and discipline these institutions expect. Whether working with us in person or remotely, families can expect a clear plan, expert instruction, and a high-standard culture built around consistent performance and long-term success.
Our History
Founded by Kent Park after he immigrated from South Korea, Kent Prep began with a clear purpose: to bring the rigor, discipline, and high academic expectations he valued into the NYC education landscape. Originally established as Bayside Academy, the firm earned its reputation through consistent results and word-of-mouth trust from families. Over time, that foundation allowed Kent Prep to grow beyond Queens—evolving into a globally respected practice serving students from New York and around the world.

Our Teaching Philosophy – CAP, The Kent Difference
Our CAP Philosophy—Character, Aptitude, and Passion—is the framework that guides how we develop top-tier applicants. It was created from the core pillars colleges consistently evaluate. Character is reflected in how a student is described by mentors and teachers, and how authentically they communicate through essays. Aptitude is demonstrated through academic performance—GPA, course rigor, and standardized test results. Passion is shown in the depth and direction of a student’s extracurricular commitments. By aligning preparation to all three, CAP ensures students are not only competitive on paper, but compelling in the story their application tells.
Current Locations
Kent Prep welcomes families at both of our New York locations: Midtown Manhattan and Douglaston, Queens. Each office offers a focused, academic environment where students can learn, practice, and build consistency—whether they’re attending sessions or simply looking for a quiet place to study. Parents and students are always welcome to stop by, tour the space, and meet our team—we’d be happy to help you find the right starting point.
